Vintage Flying

Eshott Airfield has a rich aviation heritage. The airfield was home to 57 Operational Training Unit, training Spitfire pilots during World War II.

Continuing this heritage, we offer introductory flight experiences in vintage de Havilland Tiger Moths and Chipmunk and specialist vintage training.

Taking to the skies in a de Havilland DH82 Tiger Moth or de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk lets you see Northumberland’s stunning landmarks and Newcastle’s glorious cityscape from a whole new perspective.

Aspiring and experienced pilots can challenge themselves and learn to fly Tiger Moths. The team’s expert instructors will help you become the next generation of tailwheel pilots.

And once you’ve completed the training, you’ll have the unique opportunity to join and self-fly hire our Tiger Moths.
